August 1st Vigil in Boston

Vigil CandlesMonday, August 1st, 3pm to 6pm
@ 135 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston
(Outside the Boston Globe building)

The People's Spotlight: A Vigil for People who Have Died Due to Seclusion, Restraint, Neglect and Police Brutality

This event is a response to the Boston Globe’s ongoing "Spotlight on Mental Health". The Globe’s series is biased, dangerous and promotes force. It inaccurately portrays people with psychiatric diagnoses as dangerous and violent.

This vigil event will instead focus on the hundreds of individuals labeled as ‘mentally ill’ who have died in recent years due to brutal mental health/criminal justice practices. The names of each of the victims lost to this brutality will be read aloud. More details coming soon.

PLEASE NOTE: The RLC will be cancelling all open hours and most regular groups
(see calendars for specifics) on this date so that all may attend.
