Closures and Cancellations for March and April, 2020

We will update this page as closures and cancellations come in.

SPACES:

All of our spaces are remaining open at this time. We are prioritizing people who truly have no other safe space to go and/or who are under serious threat of forced hospitalization or similar. This includes focusing on meeting basic needs in all spaces, including bathroom access, food, and basic supplies. Spaces are open as follows:

Holyoke Center: Our Holyoke Center remains open Monday through Thursday from 12pm to 4pm, with up to 8 people from the community able to be in the space at a time.

Springfield Center: Our Springfield Center remains open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9am to 2pm and Saturday 11am to 3pm, with up to 8 people from the community able to be in the space at a time.

Pittsfield Center: Our Pittsfield Center is currently open six days per week. This includes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12pm to 3pm, and Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 12pm to 2pm.

Greenfield Center: Our Greenfield Center remains open three days per week including 12:30pm to 3:30pm Mondays and Wednesdays, and 1pm to 5pm on Fridays.

Turners Falls Basic Needs Station: We are hosting a 'basic needs' station at the Brick House in Turners Falls from 12pm to 3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a space where people can come in and get food, be warm, get narcan, charge phones, etc.

Afiya: Afiya is open as usual, though with some shifts in practices (initial conversations happening by phone rather than in person, etc.) and focus (prioritizing people who truly have nowhere else to go, etc.).

SUPPORT GROUPS:

All in-person groups or classes in Western Mass. We are temporarily cancelling or putting on hiatus any RLC-sponsored groups, classes, or events scheduled to meet in Greenfield, Pittsfield, Holyoke, or Springfield. Instead, we are making several offerings available on-line. Find more information HERE about on-line/phone supports and groups.

Somerville Altenratives to Suicide Group: The Thursday night Alternatives to Suicide group that meets in person at Assembly Square has been temporarily cancelled. It has been rescheduled as an on-line group until further notice. Details available HERE.

Jail and hospital bridging groups: All hospital and jail bridging groups have been put on hold until further notice but you can leave a message for our bridger team by calling 413.539.5941 x 334. The local jails and hospitals are not currently accepting visitors, which means that the bridgers are unable to hold groups or enter the facilities at this time.

TRAININGS, EVENTS, & OTHER GATHERINGS:

All RLC-sponsored events and trainings based in Massachusetts are being postponed or cancelled until further notice. This includes (but may not be limited to):

Western Mass Peer Network Every-Other-Month Gathering on the 4th Thursday @ 187 High Street, Holyoke: This gathering has been canceled due to prioritizing social distancing, and canceling unnecessary gatherings.

Maastricht Interview Training with Peter Bullimore & Kate Crawford, April 6-8, West Springfield: This event has been canceled with hopes to reschedule in the future. The trainers are unable to travel from the UK to the US at this time.

Open Mic Night, March 20th, Greenfield: This event has been canceled with hopes to reschedule in the future. Our lead performers are unable to attend.

Unusual Beliefs Training with Peter Bullimore & Kate Crawford, April 9-10, West Springfield: This event has been canceled with hopes to reschedule in the future. The trainers are unable to travel from the UK to the US at this time.

Anti-Oppression Event - Screening of Filberto, April 22nd, Holyoke: This event has been canceled with hopes to reschedule in the future. Our host location is not allowing events or groups to meet at their space at this time.

Alternatives to Suicide 3-day Facilitator Training in South Hadley: Libraries are closing and/or recommending that non-essential groups do not meet in their spaces. It will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

When Conversations Turn to Suicide 2-day Training in Dorchester, May 11 & 12: Although we hope things are getting back to normal by May, the current requirements make it difficult to advertise and recruit for this training. It will be delayed to a period of time when people are in a place to be considering signing up for trainings!

Peer Networking Awards Banquet @ the Knights of Columbus, Chicopee on May 8: Although we hope things are getting back to normal by May, the current situation makes it impossible to properly advertise and seek registrations for this event! We want to be sure that happens during a time when people are able to think about supporting and getting excited about this event.
